Beats per minute

We represent rhythm in music with beats. What you will see often are tempo indications like bpm. so for instance a crotchet symbol equals: 60. These are beats per minute.

How many beats is it worth ?

The Rhythm Values are represented by different number of beats. Therefore 1 beat equals one crotchet

In music theory crotchet is one of the most popular values amongst: semibreves, minims,  quavers and semiquavers. You can also use it to express the value of a semibreve. One semibreve equals to 4 crotchets.

Make sure you know how much is crotchet worth then, because you will use it all the time.  Crotchet as an oppose to minim does have circle filled inside.

Please be generous with your play-doh and form a nice thick layer to cover all the wholes when you build a notehead. Don’t forget also to include the stem. A ribbon is perfect for this one.

Enjoy!
